Bump Bonding

Bump Bonding in support of Count The Kicks

So what is bump bonding?

Any mummy to be attending our Daisy Birthing® classes will know they provide a kaleidoscope of opportunities to think about, tune into and connect with your bump.  As we move through our seated, all-fours and standing segments,  the gentle whooshing of amniotic fluid around baby lulls them into the perpetual state of calm (something we play on in the post natal Daisy ).  In addition, our beautiful birth inspired 'Silver Lake' music calms them, whilst the rhythmic pace of mummy’s breath encourages the muscle surrounding baby to massage them.

It is only right that mummy and baby should benefit from our birth preparation sessions.  After all, we truly believe pregnancy and birth is a two - way relationship.  Remember, our body knows when the time is right to go into labour as a result of hormones released by our baby!

In celebration of this wonderful relationship which starts in the womb, and to promote awareness for the wonderful team at registered charity 'COUNT THE KICKS', our termly ‘Bump Bonding Workshop' unveils a whole new array of techniques to get to know your bump!  Ideal for mummies already attending Daisy Birthing or for mums new to Lazy Daisy!

Plus Start to think about our magic Daisy Baby themes which run throughout our baby classes*

(Information is only included when your teacher is also a trained and registered Daisy Baby™ educator)

  • What is the moro reflex and why does baby like to be in arms
  • What is vestibular awareness and proprioception and how do these help baby adjust to the world
  • What is a containment hold and how do we recreate a womb like environment
  • What is the magic calm button and how do we switch it on once baby is born (we do it all the while whilst they are in the womb!)

What Can I Expect?

Guided by our beautiful postnatal Daisy Baby music (written by the same composer who produced Silver Lake), your regular Daisy Birthing® birth mentor will lead' you through a programme of gentle 'bump inclusive' movement, affirmations, guided visualisations and tummy interaction to help you tune into your baby.

This is a really fun, light hearted session, with plenty of opportunity to celebrate your bump and get to know your baby, as we move through tummy time, vibration exhalations and beautiful 'birth friendly' movements inspired by belly dancing.  As well as becoming baby aware, this is a great time to interact with other mums to be and to chill out at the end of a busy week!

At the same time your teacher (provided they are also trained in Daisy Baby™ - check locally) will begin to guide you through key 'magic holds and moves' which will help you and your baby, once they arrive!  These are our calming and soothing routines from Daisy Baby™ .... learn some hints and tips now and start using them even before you return for your Daisy Baby™ classes!

Who are Count The Kicks?

Just like Lazy Daisy, COUNT THE KICKS™ want to want to empower Mums with knowledge and confidence during their pregnancy.

Whilst Lazy Daisy work on empowerment and well being of mum during pregnancy and birth, Count The Kicks very much want t to remind mummies in the making to be aware of baby's well being too!  Whilst for some the thought of problems in pregnancy may seem scary and better off pushed to the back of their mind, Count The Kicks remind us that by being aware of the risks a mum could face during pregnancy and birth (however slim), and by being aware of their baby’s movements and development, mum is better able to know when to ask for advice if she senses a problem.  Our Lazy Daisy motto : - Follow your mothering instinct mummies - even in pregnancy!

How Do I Bump Bond?

Our unique sessions will begin to roll out from Summer 2011 - simply ask your local Daisy Birthing® teacher if she is holding a session (RRP just £8.50 inclusive of your Count The Kicks bracelet - remember £3.50 goes to Count The Kicks).
