Coupling our birth education with wonderful active birthing and pregnancy movements, we truly appeal to all learning styles - visual, auditory & those who like to simply 'do'! Plus of course you have the added benefit of being gentle coached by antenatal teachers who are all mums themselves (we only train mums!) What are Daisy Birthing® weekly antenatal classes?Daisy Birthing® really is in our opinion much more than a typical pregnancy yoga based stretch, breath and relax programme. Following 7 years of research and work with thousands of mums-to-be (we currently mentor over 800 mums a week across the UK), our antenatal programme has been formulated not only to appeal to the fact that every one has a different learning approach (so through use an array of multi sensory techniques to appeal to all mums), but to also really help you understand and experience virtual contractions. In a typical class you will ride the waves of labour, connect with baby's descent, experience virtual dilation ..... at the same time enjoying all the physical and emotional benefits of a tradition pregnancy yoga, antenatal tai chi and birth hypnosis programme. This sounds reason enough to join I am sure! What really sets us apart from other traditional antenatal education programmes however, is the fact we work on those hidden muscles which are so key for important birthing, but not usually tackled or even mentioned in a more traditional antenatal preparation programme. By learning to release and relax the psoas muscle, the piriformis, the hip flexors, our antenatal classes really can help you become more open without having to squat or take the knees far apart. This is so important for mums-to-be who feel afraid, who find internal examinations challenging or who simply feel pain (perhaps due to SPD) - this key feature is so important for our founder, who devised the programme out of her own 'challenges' and went on to experience 5 wonderful births! As an experienced pregnancy yoga and birth hypnosis teacher herself, our founder Julie took inspiration from a range of more conventional techniques such as Pregnancy Yoga, Traditional Active Birthing, Birth Breathing Education, Birth Hypnosis and Birth Education but added a new twist 'rhythm and repetition', to formulate a 1hr 20minute all embracing class which allows mums to learn as they move. This muscle memory approach really works to make birth instinctive - as it should be.
Daisy Birthing's unique antenatal class programme is FEDANT approved (being one of the first movement based programmes of it's type to gain approval in Summer of 2009 and motivating other pregnancy yoga based programmes to follow suit and strive for this national recognition) and has helped thousands of mums with classes now delivered across the UK. By delivering key birthing facts, alongside a range of gentle, rhythmic, repeated movements, physical metaphor exercises and relaxation/affirmation scripts (all set to our own beautiful labour music), Daisy Birthing® classes build muscle memory and help mums-to-be find intuitive techniques to enable them to enjoy a more comfortable birth experience. Our birth mentors quite literally wire the message of confident birthing to each and every mum, making sure her positive birthing plays out as 2nd nature on d-day! Moves will simply happen, breathing will simply flow and hormone levels will stay at optimum level! Our teachers come from a variety of backgrounds professionally but are all mums, so can talk first hand about the positives of giving birth. Amongst the nationwide network of teachers you will find pregnancy yoga tutors, birth hypnosis practitioners, babywearing consultants, doulas, holistic therapists,breast feeding consultants, fertility specialists, midwives and of course highly experienced mums! All teachers, whatever their background, undergo an intense 7 months of training with Lazy Daisy® to become an approved and accredited Daisy Birthing® mentor.

Movement or Yoga?

Is this a pregnancy yoga class? No, absolutely not. Our highly skilled teachers are not yoga teachers rather FEDANT approved Daisy Birthing Antental Educators. The movements we use are reminiscent of some yoga postures yes, and our breathing is much like ujahi breathing BUT we are also different in many ways. We avoid postures on our back, we avoid opening and squatting and we are suitable for all shapes, sizes and abilities.You do not need yoga experience to join this class, but if you have it, we are confident you will love our relaxed and super focused vibe!
