A FEDANT accredited and recognised Antenatal Teacher Training Provider
(Centre Number 50965 as issued 2nd June 2009)

July 2011 antenatal teacher trainees so pleased to have completed their foundation training
Why teach antenatal classes - Is this the right career choice for you?
To become a Daisy Birthing ® birth mentor and antenatal teacher, you should be passionate about birth and babies, feel every woman deserves a great birth experience (however their birth plays out on the day) and really want to inspire and motivate others. As a pregnancy class teacher or as we say a Daisy Birthing birth mentor, providing peer to peer support, you will work with mums-to-be weekly using movement, relaxation and education to really help them feel physically and emotionally birth ready!
Our Daisy Birthing® antenatal teacher training course is open to those who have given birth. Daisy Baby, our continuity of care module for the three months post birth, is open to all who want to embrace and celebrate the parent baby attachment, although in an ideal world you will also be the main carer of a child under the age of 1.
What Qualities do you need to teach our antenatal classes?
-
You should be keen to help mums access antenatal hints, tips and mother to mother wisdom but at the same time be embracing of all birth choices (we are about empowerment not judgement) - remember our pregnancy courses, and workshops are equally suited to those who have had to take the route of elective c-section perhaps due to past history or a medical condition.
-
You should be comfortable with getting down on the floor, moving about, making noise (we are renowned for our Birthing Camel Breath and our Daisy Baby Yummmm Mummmm Mummmm).
-
You should be relatively mobile, able to demonstrate movements and positions BUT you do not have to be super bendy, qualified in yoga/fitness or a certain dress size! Remember our classes suit all mums to be and it takes all types of teachers to inspire them. Whilst the flow of our class has a yoga vibe and some of the movements have origins within pregnancy yoga, we are not a typical pregnancy yoga class. Rather education which uses movement to help wire in our key birth messages. We are known as a 'muscle memory' form of antenatal education - quite literally we make confident birth inherent!
-
You should be looking for a career which can work with you and around your family, with relatively low cost start up BUT remembering of course, like any business, you will need to provide commitment .... no amount of national advertising by HO replaces good old fashioned networking, promoting and getting out to meet the people in your own area.
-
Ideally you need a car (to travel to venues) and the time to commit to at least 2 classes a week (evenings and weekends work well for pregnancy but not so well for baby). Entry onto training is exceptionally competitively priced in comparison with other antenatal teacher training schemes. Basic training starts at just £1,500, with your exclusive postcode territory and right to use our programme added on at a rate of 1% x total population within your chosen postcode area. Example: Training and an area containing 100,000 people will cost you just £2,500 plus VAT.

What is Daisy Birthing® and Daisy Baby®?
Daisy Birthing® antenatal classes and Daisy Baby® baby bonding classes are both unique products of designed by Lazy Daisy Ltd.
Originating in Ipswich, Suffolk, the portfolio of Daisy classes can now be found across the UK in over 90 locations, led by an army of mums and birth professionals passionate about birth (all trained by our founder and mum of five Julie Long).
These antenatal and baby progammes have been carefully devised, researched and authored (over a period of 7 years) gaining full FEDANT approved in the Summer of 2009, and supported by a beautiful suite of unique relaxation tracks (composed and professionally mastered exclusively for Lazy Daisy) and a fantastic interactive web site which boasts an interactive community room and very soon Daisy Radio!
Each Daisy Birthing® mentor can go on to train and deliver complete continuty of care for their mums by adding our IPTI approved Baby classes, to provide the full Lazy Daisy experience.
Our antenatal classes are based around movement, pregnancy yoga style soft stretches, active birth education, breathing, hypnosis, belly dancing inspired hip movements and baby calming techniques but you don't have to be qualified in any of these areas already‚ just able to show can provide great peer to peer mentoring, through reflection of your own birthing journey and/or experiences of parenting your baby. We are unlike any other programme out there, using unique metaphors, music, sound, educational topics and rhythmic repeated movement sequences to bring together a programme which not only provides complete pregnancy well being but also provides vital 'birthing' techniques too.
As mentioned above, your training with Lazy Daisy® will enable you to become a FEDANT registered antenatal teacher (once qualified) or as we call you Birth Mentors! This will enable you to regiser on our site but also with FEDANT www.fedant.org

Daisy Birthing 'Birth Mentors' from Training Group Nov 2010
About the teacher training
Daisy Birthing® educators train over approximately a 5-6 month period through a range of formal study days in Ipswich, home study manuals, DVD observations, actual class observations and of course a final exam (including your Anatomy test). Once qualified you must register with FEDANT as an approved antenatal educator, to show mums2be you have attended a recognised training programme! Typically you will enjoy 50 hours face to face with our founder, weekly discussion groups over a 10 month period, class observations, practice sessions and compile a written portfolio which is marked both inhouse and by external assessors.
To add on your Daisy Baby modules you will undertake a further 3-4 month training again through very similar methods to those detailed above. Whilst some applicants may already have an infant massage qualification, because our programme goes so much further than this, we ask they still attend the full training course. We recommend our Daisy Birthing teachers deliver at least 3 terms of birthing classes before adding their Daisy Baby modules.
Remember however, the training is just the start. By effectively renting the right to use our marks and media under the terms of an easy to understand and mutually beneficial code of conduct License, you have the instant opportunity to launch your own Daisy Birthing® facility. Not only does license rental guarantee you that we will not authorise any other competitor Daisy Birthing® or Daisy Baby® teachers within your area (a huge benefit - so many other training programmes will train as many as 5 or 6 teachers in each town, drastically cutting class attendance for each individual teacher); but in addition it also allows you to benefit from your own web profile here on this site, a range of media templates to print (flyers/posters/ad templates), details class plans, enrolment forms, the ability to create online communities for your classes (for 24/7 customer support) and a host of Head Office guidance in business practise and marketing.
Of course one of the real benefits is that you will benefit directly from our programme of ongoing national marketing and brand awareness campaigns (we aim to feature in at least one national publication every month and are active on social media sites too).
Key Features of training with Lazy Daisy
-
Our training is approved (Birthing by FEDANT, the body which exists to ensure standards in the antenatal education industry, and Baby by IPTI)
-
We will consider all Birth Mentors, who can show their own birth has inspired them to mentor and provide peer to peer support to others
- Our learning is family friendly, we try to fit study days around family, offer 'home study modules' for part of the programme, allow baby to attend for certain study days and aim to work with you to get you up and running as quickly as possible (without compromising quality)
-
-
We're an affordable start-up business with this all embracing training and exclusive territory (100k demographic) starting at just £2,500 for your starting Daisy module, business pack and license
-
Even just one class a week (of course most of our teachers choose to teach many more) and four workshops a year will supplement your household income by around £400 per month ..... and because classes can be built gradually, you can easily work this around your family and or an existing career. So very low risk to you, as you build organically and at a pace to suit!

We believe in ongoing training... teachers enjoy 'free' conference and CPD on 16th September 2011
Our antenatal teacher training and classes are so family friendly!
-
All of our teachers have children, in fact at the last count there were over 50 babies between us, although of course our founder has done her bit by adding five! This is the career where being a mum or being pregnant really does give you the added advantage, not only because of your natural ability to empathise with the joy and challenges of pregnancy, birth and babies but also because of the opportunities family life presents to network with the very people who will need your classes!
-
-
The best qualification for this role is life experience - we want to hear about your birth experience, your life with baby, the highs, the lows .... all of this adds to make your application to become a Daisy Birthing® or Daisy Baby teacher stronger!
-
Our customers don't mind if baby gurgles in the background when you are taking a phone booking - they are about to become mums themselves and understand! In fact many of you will have spoken to us and our babies!
-
Some of the best marketing campaigns happen with baby in buggy ..... showing the mums you approach that you really do have first hand experience. Our advertising doesn't happen in a board room but in mum friendly coffee shops, picnics in the park, school fetes and family festivals!
-
And if you find yourself pregnant, our classes are not only safe for you to teach but of course super beneficial too. Most of our pregnant teachers have continued teaching right through to week 36 of their pregnancy. And whilst you take time out to have baby, you may find another teacher near by happy and willing to cover your sessions for you (and our contract maternity clause will provide relief from annual fees).
-
Working hours fit between school runs or into the evening and of couse it is entirely up to you whether you break for school holidays or not.
-
Some of our teachers have even lined themselves up a spare pair of hands, so that their own baby can come with them to class and join in the fun!
-
We say it again, our start up fees are LOW COST and our annual contributions extrememly reasonable, ensuring mums like you can afford to take this new step into re-inventing your family friendly career and can afford to maintain it.
