The Training Team
Training of all mentors in England and Wales in undertaken by our founder Julie Long, co-assisted by Nicky Woodhatch.
Julie has been working with expectant parents since 2004 and holds recognised qualifications in Pregnancy movement, Hypnosis for Birth, Pregnancy Massage, Holistic Massage, Reflexology, Work as a Doula and of course is registered with www.fedant.org as both Daisy Birthing® teacher and Daisy Birthing® trainer. She has taught over 2500 parents and 68 teachers and has clocked up over 1000 hours working with parents to be in an educational capacity!
Julie also leads Daisy Baby® training and with qualifications in baby massage (University of central England, level 3), baby yoga and children's movement, along with 5 children of her own, is well equipped to draw on a host of experiences.
Fellow Trainer Nicky Woodhatch is not only our most successful Daisy teacher to day with an average of 100 Daisy Birthing® and Daisy Baby® mums weekly (and now her own Mummy Cafe to run classes in) but in addition is qualified in LK Massage, Reflexology, Massage for Pregnancy and Baby Massage and is founder of Bump Birth & Baby.
Sian Gilmartin BSc (Hons), MBA, Dip CAH, PNLP, HPD, our Scottish Master Licensee, leads our anxiety release training in her role as Clinical Hypno-Psychotherapist & Teacher. Sian is an experienced practitioner in general practice, with advanced training in areas such as Fertility, Birthing, Parenting, Antenatal Education and the Postnatal Period. Susie Birchall worked for many years as a practising midwife, before moving into medical sales and then retraining with Lazy Daisy. Susie provides assistance at antental training and it is wonderful to see a midwife's perspective in action!
The Training Locations
Our home Ipswich in Suffolk. Whilst it sounds like the end of the earth, it does actually enjoy good transport links:-
- Teaching venue 10mins from A12 and A14 interchange (with easy access then to M25, M6 and M11)
- Railway station walking distance of venue, on main line from London Liverpool Street (1hr 15mins) and Norwich (1hr)
- 45minutes drive from Stanstead airport
For Central England and the North - Corby
- Training venue is just 15mins from the A14, 20mins from the A1, and 40mins from the M1.
- Corby train station is 5mins away and this also is connected to London St Pancreas.
For the South
- Barnett Hill, Guildford, in Surrey .... at the beautiful Sundial venue Barnett Hill
The Training Venues
We choose venues to ensure comfort, ease and to be within easy reach of family friendly activities, if you are travelling with tot in tow! Ask about facilities at your chosen location!

Ongoing Support
All ongoing support of mentors in England and Wales is delivered by the team in Ipswich and through our support desk which links directly to our Design and Web providers.
Enrolment Criteria
- Open to existing professionals, therapists, doulas, midwives, nurses
- Open to non professionals with experience of or interest in active birthing and natural birthing techniques
