Meet our Swindon Teacher

Meet our Swindon Birthing Teacher

Meet the Lazy Daisy team ....

This week I have been talking to one of our newest Daisy Birthing trainees (April 2011) Tori, who will be operating our unique pregnancy relaxation and active birthing classes in the Swindon Area:-

How did you find Daisy Birthing?

I found Daisy birthing through a specialist Mums franchise site. I was looking for a new career that would fit in with my son and thought I could use my previous teaching experience to teach some sort of baby classes.  I wasn't sure exactly what i was looking for but Lazy Daisy stood out from the other franchises - I was drawn to the company ethos.Tori_Profile

So what made you decide this was the Birth Education course for you?

As soon as I read through the information on Lazy Daisy I was hooked!  I wished there was something like this for me when I was pregnant. I loved the fact that the company offers peer to peer support and that I can help other women to enjoy their pregnancies and births.  And as an added bonus, the work allows me to spend quality time with my son and work when he's sleeping.

How have you found the antenatal teacher training so far?

I've really enjoyed traning. I was worried about having to get my rusty brain going again after maternity leave and was in a panic about being able to take on board all of the theory and 'medical bits'.  Julie made it all so easy though.  The training was really practical (which is how I like to learn!).  All of the 'technical bits' were taught alongside the practical movements so we really understood the benefits of each movement and the theory of why it works.  Julie made me feel so at ease that I didn't feel silly asking questions and  we were given loads of encouragement so by the end of  weekend one I felt much more confident that I can actually do this!  It was so good too to meet the rest of the training group, bounce ideas about how to launch our businesses and bond.  Now what we have to do is practise, practise, practise so we can pass all this info onto our mummies.
Where will you be teaching Daisy Birthing Active Birth and Birth Education Classes?
I will be running classes across the Swindon area.

Do you feel this programme and thee classes would have helped you in pregnancy?

I would have loved to have had this programme when I was pregnant.   I was determined to have a calm, natural birth but had no idea how to achieve this (and was petrified deep down thanks to every one's labour scare stories).  I ended up doing lots of different classes to get as much info/help as I could; this included pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing. Whilst I enjoyed both of these I must admit I found the yoga physically very hard at times and the hypnobirthing was a bit of a squeeze on our finances.  Lazy Daisy classes would have suited me better physically and I would have really benefited from the relaxed vibe throughout. Classes are so affordable and would have saved me dashing about to lots of different classes - all I needed in one class!

What are your hopes and plans for the next 12 months?

I hope to have made a success of Lazy Daisy Swindon! Within the next 12 monthsand to have expanded to run several classes per week so that I can reach mummies-to-be in all parts of the town, and maybe to even expand my area to include the smaller towns on the outskirts (I don't want any Wiltshire Mummies to miss out).  I'll be doing my Baby training in November too, so I'm really excited about being able to offer 4th trimester classes and teach some of my mums-to-be once their little ones arrive.  Above all else I hope to still be enjoying being a full-time Mum to my son whilst being able to contribute financially to family life.
Do you feel passionate about birth confidence and passionate too about being able to have a career which fits around your children?  If so Daisy Birthing could be the ideal route for you.  Find out more by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
