About Classes in Worthing (BN11 and BN12)

We love it when we are joined by teachers who have lived the Daisy Birthing® programme themselves and that is exactly what has happened in Worthing. Mum of 1 Vicki loved her classes in Brighton so much, that she decided to train and run her own here in BN11 and BN12. Vicki tells us why:-
Vicki_Ades_Profile "Daisy Birthing® gave me so much inspiration throughout my pregnancy with my son and allowed me to enjoy every moment of my pregnancy and labour. I had a fantastic labour which lasted just 4 hours from start to finish with the sole use of Daisy Birthing® taught breathing techniques to get me thorugh . I had a few issues from 32 weeks onwards and was hospitalised on two occassions but despite this I kept positive and embraced every moment of my pregnancy.

I do feel that giving birth has changed my lfe, not only by becoming a parent but also by realising how passionate I am about ensuring all women have the opportunity to enjoy pregnancy and birth as much as possible, regardless of what nature throws their way."

TYNE & WEAR, Sunderland

Various throughout Sunderland - Beginning Spring 2012 Sunderland, Tyne & Wear 07857 686267 or email rebecca-talbot@lazydaisybirthing.co.uk

Welcome to Daisy Birthing Sunderland

Welcome to Daisy Birthing® wonderful relaxed-active birth education here in Sunderland, brought to you by our lovely local mum of two, and former Daisy Birthing client, Rebecca.  Rebecca has a daughter born in 2009 and discovered Daisy Birthing® whilst pregnant with her son in 2011, when she attending classes with Daisy Birth mentor Vicky in Durham.  Rebecca loved what she learnt and the relaxed ambiance of classes so much, that she decided to join us, and launch classes throughout the Sunderland postcodes. In Rebecca's words:-

"I have had two fantastic birth experiences: both water babies born at home (and without pain relief), although my labours were quite different. I would love to be able to empower other women to have faith in their own bodies so that they can also have a positive birth experience. The end result makes birth the most wonderful experience but knowing you managed it without intervention and in the best possible way for your baby makes it more even more amazing. While I understand that medical intervention is not always avoidable, even in such cases I believe that it is a less stressful experience for both mother and baby if the mother has techniques to use to keep her calm and comfortable."

Rebecca_Talbot_Profile

Rebecca chose to attend Lazy Daisy classes during her 2nd pregnancy as like many 2nd time mums, hadn't had as much time to prepare herself or concentrate on her baby as much as first time round.   She was drawn to the fact the programme took inspiration from techniques similar to those she used during her first birth (yoga and hypnobirthing), but liked the idea of learning a new take too.  The fact Daisy Birthing is SPD friendly was also a big draw as Rebecca has suffered with Pelvic Girdle Pain through both pregnancies (and beyond).

Timetable and Pricing

Classes are now running in Sunderland at the very special offer price of just £40 per 6 week course, whilst Rebecca completes her teaching practice.  Rest assured all student teachers have already fully completed their practical training with our founder and sat both practical and written examinations to achieve their Foundation Diploma and obtain their insurance to £5,000,000.   Once Rebecca has completed student practise and has achieved her FEDANT registration, classes will revert to RRP of £54 per 6 week term or £75 per couple for intensive workshops.  For full details contact rebecca-talbot@lazydaisybirthing.co.uk">rebecca-talbot@lazydaisybirthing.co.uk

Successes

I am thrilled to have had such positive feedback in my first few terms of teaching, here’s just a few ……..

“I went into the experience with a confidence and understanding of the mechanics of the birth that I couldn’t have grasped from a book so I’m chuffed to bits to have been to your classes, which were so perfectly pitched for me (and my husband when it came to the couples workshop) so a big thank-you”.  Mylene, Nov 2011.

“The birth went well and I was amazed by how invaluable the techniques I picked up from your classes were.  I really believe that attending antenatal classes, such as your, was a brilliant way to prepare my mind and body which made me feel empowered instead of intimidated by labour”.  Becky, Oct 2011.

“I am sure the classes helped and I will be recommending them to anyone who will listen!”  Kate, Sept 2011

Horsham

ABOUT CLASSES IN HORSHAM, SUSSEX

We will shortly be publishing details of new Horsham based teacher Rebecca, who will launch classes in the RH12 and RH13 postcode areas, in the Spring of 2012.

Rebecca is a mum of one (born 2010) and suffered hugely with SPD during her pregnancy, so the accessibility of Lazy Daisy and our range of movements really appeals to her.  She had thought a c-section might be inevitable for her, due to her SPD, but actually enjoyed a confident and positive vaginal birth.  Because of her own issues with SPD, Rebecca has spent the last few months working in a voluntary capacity for a well known parenting organisation, co-ordinating SPD support groups.

When asked why Lazy Daisy ® Rebecca replies ""I want to be a part of Lazy Daisy and the work they do across the UK, because I believe in the importance of women being educated in the role key birthing muscles play, with the ultimate aim of helping them to feel as positive about their experience as I do".

TIMETABLE AND PRICING

Watch out for HG1/3/6 Halifax Classes Coming Soon

With brand new teacher Lucy Hill!

Lucy has one child already and is expecting another this year and found us through attending Daisy Birthing® classes herself with existing teacher Sally in Bradford!  We love to have a Daisy mum aboard!

"In this current pregnancy, I was found to carry GBS, so my plans for a relaxed home birth can not be realised – however, through using techniques I learnt for my sons birth and am learning through Daisy Birthing®, plus knowledge from my NHS role, I hope to make it as close to the birth I want as I can within the confines of the hospital. This diagnosis however, along with bad SPD, and other stressful life events has meant that I have suffered with stress through this pregnancy  .... when I noticed that after only one session of Daisy Birthing®, my SPD was more controllable, and my psychological outlook was 100% more positive, I realised this is something I want to be able to offer to other women (particularly the positive focus, and feeling of retaking control over your body and pregnancy – and the increased bonding I feel with my daughter through having some relaxation time to focus on her). Care for women and unborn/newborn children has always been important to me, and has been shown in all my academic and professional achievements, as well as in my personal life as part of a large and close family."

Lucy is hugely experiend within the healthcare sector holding a BSc Medical Studies 2005 (University of Birmingham) and an MSc Population Studies 2006 (University of York).  She works in the role of Pregnancy/Family specialist and is also a training as a life coach.

"Through all my professional, academic, and personal history, I have had a passionate interest in helping Pregnant women, new Mums, and of course the babies involved – both with health outcomes, and psychological wellbeing.  As soon as I completed by first lesson with Daisy Birthing®, I knew that this would be a fantastic role for me, as I was experiencing the all-round benefits of it first hand, and could see clearly how it would benefit so many of the women I work with in my current role, as well as sitting nicely with the Life Coaching training I am undertaking. Above all, what I like most about Daisy Birthing® is that it is not just a bit of Pregnancy Yoga, or Breathing techniques, but it is a ‘whole well-being’ approach (pregnancy symptom relief, preparation for birth, stress and anxiety relief etc), and this is vital for confident (and safe) pregnancies, birth and leading into the postnatal period."

We are very much looking forward to seeing Lucy's classes launch in the autumn - watch this space for a timetable or email lucy@lazydaisybirthing.co.uk!

About Classes in North Huddersfield

We are so pleased to welcome Steph S to our team of Birthing mentors who offer Daisy Birthing® throughout Yorkshire.

Steph has one little boy of her own born in April 2011 .  She admits to having immersed herself in reading, research and opinions during her own pregnancy, in a bid to find a way to help her overcome her anxiety (not only to assist with labour, but also because she felt passionate about trying to stay calm whilst carrying Ben to help him have a calm transition through pregnancy and labour).  Drawn to the conccept of visualisation, affirmation and self hypnosis, she immediately clicked with the idea of Lazy Daisy®.Steph_Profile

In her own words "Although I did have the natural birth I wanted, the fear I had when they transferred me to the labour ward when they thought assistance was required was real enough for me to understand how frightening it can be when things don’t necessarily go to plan.  I know several people who did have an emergency caesarean or assistance of some kind, some were prepared and viewed their births positively, whereas some were not as prepared and felt a failure.  Through Lazy Daisy I hope that all the mums I teach will go through a positive birthing experience, no matter how the baby arrives.  After all each birth is a miracle and it shouldn’t matter how the baby arrived as long as it arrives safely."

We completely agree Steph and pride ourselves on a 'tool kit' which all mums can make use of, whether at home or in hospital, in water or being monitored and those too who want to enjoy the lead up to their birthing experience where a planned c-section is required.  Every mum deserves to prepare in the most natural and holistic way possible!

Timetable and Prices

Classes begin  Tuesday 6th December at Ponderosa Business Park, Heckmondwike and are ideal for mums-to-be living in Mirfield and Liversedge (Kirklees local authority area WF14/15/16/16), in Cleckheaton and to the North of Huddersfield.

As with all our 'student teachers' whilst on their final stage of their diploma 'teaching practise', Steph's opening term will be priced at just £40 for the a 6 week term (as opposed to £54 RRP).  Rest assured all student teachers have achieved their full foundation certificate (having sat both written and practical assessments) and holds full Student Professional Indemnity cover to £5,000,000.  On completion of teaching practise, Steph will be registered with FEDANT as an approved antenatal teacher (Daisy Birthing).
