Welcome to Classes in Northumberland

Mum of two and experienced Nursery Nurse Annmarie, will be launching Daisy Birthing® classes in the NE20 and NE61-66 postcode areas in Spring 2012.  Annmarie has been following the work of Lazy Daisy® for some time and is delighted to at last have been able to join us.  She really believes good preparation is so key for a positive birth experience:-

"My first labour played very heavy on my mind during my pregnancy and I read lots of books, visited many baby websites and tried to find as much information as possible.  NHS antenatal classes weren’t available until I was 34 weeks pregnant unfortunately, and I would have worried myself sick if I didn’t find out information before hand.  I did enjoy the NHS classes but felt I also need to understand the physiology of what would happen to my body.   When my labour began I used breathing to help me focus and enjoyed a 16 hour labour with my first child and was in established labour with my second for just 4 hours and with both labours I had only 2 paracetamols, no other pain relief".

Whilst Annmarie accepts Mother Nature played a part in helping her enjoy her quick and easy births, she passionately believes much of this was due to knowledge and breathing and through our programme, wants to help other mums-to-be find and benefit from the same tool kit!

 

Classes and Timetable

Annmarie's classes will begin in Spring 2012 and if the rest of the North East is anything to judge by, they will fill fast!  Her first term will retail at just £40 whilst she completes her final weeks of teaching practise.  Rest assured, all teaching-practise teachers have already obtained their foundation diploma and sat both written and practical examinations (and hold insurance to £5,000,000).

About classes in Basingstoke, Aldershot and Farnham

We are delighted to welcome Claire to our very active birthing team in the RG postcode area and into Hampshire and the border of Surrey, not least because she is a mum of three young children herself, but also because she is a qualified (albeit no longer practising) midwife.

Claire is passionate about birth - as passionate now in fact as the day she enrolled for midwifery training - but feels the need now like many of our teachers, to find a more favourable work-life balance, so that she can enjoy her own children.  Claire was so keen to continue working with women in the community however, and was therefore delighted to find Lazy Daisy®.  She realy agrees with the ethos of our Daisy Birthing® programme ... positivity for all, regardless of the birth journey.

Timetable and Pricing

Claire will operate classes throughout RG19 to RG29 and into GU9/10/11/12 (Aldershot, Farnham & Fleet) and will begin teaching in Spring 2012.  Her opening term like all of our Daisy Birthing® mentors in training, will be priced at just £40 per 6-week block of classes (RRP £54), to reflect her teaching practise status.  Rest assured all trainee teachers on teaching practise have already undertaken written and practical assessments, a full programme of practical study and of course in Claire's case, she is a fully qualified midwife.  All student teachers are insured to £5,000,000.

Welcome to Louisa Walsh who will be running Daisy Birthing® classes in BR2, BR3 and BR4 from Spring of 2012.  Louisa has one little boy of her own (born 2010) folowing a whopping 42 hour labour but as Louisa says, she wouldn't chance her experience for the world!  She certainly has a lot of experience to bring to the tabel!

As well as being mum, Louisa is also well known to local mums through her work as a baby massage instructor and for her local Bumps & Babies Group.  So why Daisy Birthing®:-

"My life changed when I had Luca and I found I had a real interest in being with new mums, talking bith, joining classes and playing a supportive role to my friends.  I had previously explored pregnancy yoga but Lazy Daisy® gives so much more than this and I really can't wait to start teaching".     Haivng previously owned and managed two succesful beauty salons,we know Louisa is great with people and we completely see why she now wants to combine her experience of working with women, with her new found love of birth!

About Classes North Beds (Beford, Woburn Sands)

With a thriving Daisy Birthing® team operating throughout Bedfordshire at the moment, it is wonderful for us to be able to complete the final puzzle piece by introducing you to Susie, who will be running Daisy Birthing® classes throughout MK17 and MK40 to 46 inclusive.

As well as being a mum, Susie is also a former midwife, which is really what shaped her desire to join us.  In her own words "I am an ex midwife who loved her job but had to leave and misses the amazing experience of supporting women and their partners through pregnancy and birth. I have been in medical sales for the last 15 Years working as clinical education specialist but miss working with women.  Lazy Daisy is just what I have been looking for to enable me to use my experience, work with mums and allow me to spend more time with my family".

Susie will begin teaching in Winter 2011, networking closely with neighbouring teachers Sylvia (who covers the remaining MK postcodes) and Teresa, who works on the Beds/Herts border and she just can't wait to begin!

Sally is a mum of one (born 2010) and our teacher for the BD16, BD17, BD18 and BD20 postcode areas.  She will launch classes in Winter 2011

Sally is passionate about birth, having experienced the benefits of both birth hypnosis, breathing and traditional education in the lead up to the birth of her daughter.  In her words "I had a great birthing experience with my daughter and I put that down to being prepared before hand.  I would like to help other women prepare for labour in a positive way".  We know Daisy Birthing® can help women do this and are so glad it will be available to women inBingley,  Baildon, Shipley and Silsdon.

About Classes in Bolton, Greater Manchester

Welcome to classes here in Bolton, with mum of four and midwife Alex!  Alex is quite simply passionate about birth and cannot wait to start using the Daisy Birthing® programme both with women who she sees in her capacity now as an independent midwife but also to a wider audience.

Alex has experienced a variety of births herself from hospital with forceps, emergency section ad two home births in water!  In addition of course she has had the wonderful opportunity to work with hundreds of women in her role first as a community midwife and then as a Senior Midwife and through this work became so interested in water births and the more physiological labours (so mums doing what their body felt like doing) - this really encouraged Alex to 'watch and wait' and she became determined to endeavour to bring calm and centred care to all women.

In Alex's words "I can't wait to train as a Daisy Birthing® teacher as I believe in the process of physiological birth.  Many more women could achieve a positive birth experience if they are given opportunity to learn to become aware of their own body, its strengths and its limitations.  I feel a positive birth experience is not limited by a 'natural birth' outcome but by a women being empowered enough to make choices that are right for them".  We absolutely agree!

Unfortunately classes cannot begin until early summer 2012 as Alex is so busy but we can't wait to bring you more news and in the meantime of course, nearby classes can be found with Sarah in Bury/Salford.

Once Alex begins, her opening term will retail at just £40 for the six week course, whilst she completes her Lazy Daisy certification.  Once fully registered, her courses will retail at the RRP of £54 per 6 week course, so fantastic value for an all-embracing education!

About Pregnancy & Baby Classes in Brighton

Cheeky Funky mum of two, Gemma, is our lovely Brighton & Hove Daisy Birthing® teacher. As well as running a children's clothing business (www.cheekyfunky.com), Gemma is passionate about positive and confident birthing. She was drawn to Daisy Birthing as in her words felt "it bridges the gap between traditional education and full on pregnancy yoga".

Gemma is keen to bring classes to as many mums in the local area as she can, whether they are planning home or hospital births as stresses techniques are equally valuable in both scenarios.

News

Classes have been running since summer 2010 in Brighton and Hove and having taught well over 160 parents to be things are really flying down on the South Coast. With such big classes Lazy Daisy® Brighton & Hove is about to move into two new venues and locations within the city from this February. Now with a waiting list for babies classes as well as birthing Gemma is trying to expand to meet the demand, with such great feedback, birth stories and testimonials a great community is growing that everyone can be part of.

Daisy Baby™ with Gemma

Having only just started Daisy Baby Classes last November (2011) Gemma has now added an extra class on to her next term, Feb 2012 to account for all the mummies and babies wanting to come along and join in!

We replace the usually expected shakers, chiffons, bright lights and nursery rhymes, with white noise, amniotic imitators, womb holds, soft stretch, gentle containment and claming strokes, mum & baby bonding movements, gentle visual tracking and of course relaxation and peer to peer support!

Welcome to Daisy Birthing® and our unique relaxed active birth education here in Bromsgrove and Redditch.  Classes are brought to you by our local mum of two and trainee doula, Helen! Helen has experienced both a hospital birth and also a home water birth and is passionate about every woman having a positive birthing experience, whatever her journey.

She herself enjoyed the benefits of both traditional, active birth and hypnosis based education when preparing for her own births, but finds it frustrating that some other antenatal programmes are priced too high for many mums to attend.  The unique 90 minute classes combine traditional antenatal education with movement, breathing and relaxation techniques, which allows a mum-to-be to learn as she moves – no need to take notes, no flipchats, no handouts!

 

These classes also really work in helping manage common pregnancy symptoms (backache, pelvic pain, swollen ankles, indigestion, heartburn and many more) as well as providing practical birth preparation that helps boost confidence in labour. Our classes offer mums-to-be a choice from the traditional antenatal class. They are popular with first time mums who want a class that combines a range of techniques but also unlike some other antenatal classes second, third or even fourth time mums love them too as experienced mums don’t often want (or need) to go through the same ‘classroom style’ education as they did the first time around, but enjoy the benefits of the practical nature of our classes.
